American Giant
Thanks to a generous donation by
Seedsense, Ltd.
Height: Up to 16ft or more
Head Type: Generally single-head
Head Diameter: 10" (30cm)
Maturity: 70 days
These sunflower seeds were developed by Woodland plant geneticist
Dr. Tom Heaton, the world’s foremost sunflower breeder.
Heaton has
been breeding sunflowers for 30 years and has revolutionized the
market by introducing a dazzling array of new sunflower forms and
colors to the seed trade. American Giant Hybrid can grow
to 16+ feet and has very large seed heads.
"If this sunflower was any taller, you would need a flashing
light on top of it to warn passing airplanes! Not only is this one
of the tallest sunflowers that we have seen, it has the stalk to
support it. The 10 inch golden blooms sit atop plants that can reach
16 ft and above."
